Medical Director
Dr. A’ndrea Van Schoick earned her BS with Honors in Animal Science from Cornell University and her BS in Veterinary Medicine and DVM degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. She also holds a project management certification from Duke University, is a graduate of the Institute for Women’s Entrepreneurship at Cornell and eCornell’s Executive Leadership program, and maintains certifications in facilitation, training, and instructional design.
Dr. Van Schoick spent eight years in private companion animal practice in northern Virginia and built a six‑state locum tenens primary care and emergency practice. She then served nearly 18 years at FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), working as a new animal drug reviewer and later as Director of Scientific Curriculum while continuing part‑time clinical practice. She has been an adjunct Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine and a frequent speaker at local and national conferences, colleges, and veterinary schools. In January 2026, she returned to full‑time private practice and became Medical Director at Ark. She is a USDA Class II, Fear Free, and Human–Animal Bond certified veterinarian and has been recognized as a Top Vet in Virginia Living and among the Best Vets in Northern Virginia Magazine and Washingtonian.
In her free time, Dr. Van Schoick remains an active member of the Cornell alumni community, currently serving on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Veterinary Medicine. She is deeply engaged in organized veterinary medicine: Past President and Program Chair and current Scholarships and Grants Chair for the District of Columbia Academy of Veterinary Medicine; past President of the Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association; current Director for the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association; and a member of the West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association. She provides mentorship and peer support through organizations including Not One More Vet and MentorVet, and serves on the AVMA Council on Education. Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, “Dr. V” enjoys time with family and friends, singing, and exploring the outdoors with her Beagles.
